Student Lone Parent? - Scotland

Hi

My sister is a lone parent and has just had a baby while she was at uni. Shes was working part time while at uni but is on maternity pay ATM. She has applied for child tax credit, working tax credit.

My question is what happens when she goes back to uni as she plans on leaving her part time job. What help could she get from the goverment to make it possible for her to graduate?

I was looking on SAAS all i can see she could get is..

SAAS bursary
Lone Parent Grant
Child Tax Credit

Is this the three she would be entitled to? is there anything else?

I know times will be hard for her but when she graduates i am confident she will find work and she can make a good living for her son.

Cheers

Those three are actually quite a lot but she'll also get Child Benefit, maintenance from the baby's father and possibly some HB/LHA, assessed on her other income.

Thanks for your help, Well i dont know how much she would get for child tax but the lone parent and bursary will amount to about 400 per month. Do you have any idea how much the child tax credit might be?

Shes currently staying with parents so dont think she would get any help from housing benefit.

CTC will be about £200 pcm and CB is £20.30pw.

She can also get help with childcare from SAAS.

Maintenance from the baby's father doesn't affect any of her benefits.

And she can take out a student loan and access the Uni hardship fund if she struggles.

I believe that with some? means tested benefits, the student is treated as if they have taken out the loan, even if they don't want to, so that's counted as income.
