Energy use monitors for flats?

Are there any energy use monitors that are made to work in flats? The ones I've seen you have to attach something to your meter and it transmits a signal to the display which you keep inside your home. My meter's in the building's basement and I'm on the top floor so these monitors don't transmit far enough for me!

Doesn't need to be connected at the meter.
In your flat should be a fuse box, with a main cable coming out, connect it to that, my son connects his to that and it works fine, his meter is in a communal hallway and he's in a flat like you.
