You're wrong that customers aren't being informed. There's not even a need to ask them. If you read their general current account terms and conditions, linked from their legal information page, they have a convenient table that tells you the cut off times on page 12:
"Bill Payments: General cut-off time for giving instructions to us: 11.45pm for faster bill payments, 3.45pm for other bill payments."
For your delectation here's a sample of some other ends of daily transaction time for banks operating in the UK:
NatWest/RBS: 6:30PM
Santander: 9:00PM
Lloyds TSB: 10:00PM
HSBC/First Direct: 11:45PM
The one you're using and complaining about has the latest end that I know of for any bank operating in the UK.0 -
jamesd, yes I concede that you have found information stating a cut-off time of 11.45pm and for that I applaud you. But why is there no mention of it at all on the Personal Internet Banking T&Cs, surely it should be duplicated there for clarity?0
