British Gas Price cut and WebSaver 12

Hi,

I'm on a dual fuel Gas WebSaver 12 tariff, I was wondering if I benefit from the cuts announced?

It's a discount off the standard tariff, but I don't know if it's off the current tariff or off one which was set when WS12 was launched?

I did ask on the BG Chat page, and they told me this: I am sorry to say that the announced discount is only applicable for the current tariffs which are available on our website.

.. but I'm not completely convinced.

Thanks

  • The Websaver is a rate thats fixed at a certain amount below the standard rate no?

That would mean as the standard rate rises or falls, the Websaver follows :)

^ you see that's what I thought, but that's not what the person from BG said.

I just want to make sure there's not some button/swap/switch I should be thinking about.
  • Was it one of those generic computer web chat things? if so they probably wouldn't compare it to the Websaver 12 as its not an active product they are currently advertising. Either way, if you signed up to Websaver 12, you will get the decrease in prices.

No, a real person! If you hang around their comparison pages you get the option to chat to an advisor.

Still doesn't make them right, I guess :-)
  • This is from their website

As a WebSaver 12 customer you are already on one of our cheapest electricity tariffs. On the 12th January your electricity prices will decrease on average by 2%*.
So yes a decrease but not as much as standard

Thanks very much - this page has all the details (found it at last):

A shame their advisers don't know as much as the friendly people on this forum :-)
