Have you got any care and mobility needs? As that is what you get DLA for, not the illness.0

The Job centre has no idea if you will or wont qualify for DLA of any sort.
If you've already applied 3 times and been turned down the probability of you ever getting it for your current condition is zero...0 -
If you dont have care or mobility needs then you are not entitled to it.Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.0

I suppose, on reflection, it's a fair question from the OP. We often hear about the £millions of awards/benefits that go unclaimed, and the OP has been brutally honest about why he is enquiring.
The advice given is spot on of course. Hearing impairment does not trigger a DLA claim - just as visual impairment / need for specs doesn't trigger it either. Crikey - imagine the re-shaping of Government finances if all specs-wearers could claim DLA .
The JobCentre, as posted above, is not involved in DLA decision-making, but it can certainly "signpost" clients if appropriate, to the options of DLA. What the JobCentre can do even better, though, is discuss with the OP the options under Access To Work. ATW has been managed by JobCentre for some time now, and whilst ATW no longer funds hearing aids, it can and does significantly fund other equipment to help hearing-impaired people remain in a job and/or secure a job. The ATW folks are really nice people too :A.0 -
Her's a questionaire you can do indoors, just to see if you have and prospect entitlement' to DLA.

Or, have a look at this hearing impaired info site:
http://www.actiononhearingloss.org.uk/supporting-you/rights-and-benefits/benefits-and-services/what-benefits-are-available.aspx
If you do wish to claim again, I wouldf advise that you get help with completing the forms from either the CAB or Welfare Rights, after making sure that you will get support from any GP or consultant invloved with your hearing problems:

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

That is the fundamental problem here. People think - hearing aids = problem solved. Yes that is true for hard of hearing people and severely deaf people. But when it comes to profoundly deaf - even though they were hearing aids - it is of limited benefit - its more of an "aid" than a "solution". Profoundly deaf people can hear certain sounds through their hearing aids but their brain cannot, in most cases, translate it! So if a profoundly deaf person picks up the phone - he would hear sounds but won't figure out what it is saying.
So YES you can claim DLA. Make sure you stress your mobility needs - - you need help getting around with your hearing loss - Do you understand what random announcement are being made? Like on the tube? Do you understand strangers when asking for direction? MOBILITY part of DLA is about getting AROUND on your every day life and you need help getting around every day because of your profound hearing loss.
Then make sure you stress your CARE needs - say that hearing loss is a BODILY function say that speech impairment is a BODILY function (assuming your speech is not 100% clear because most profoundly deaf people speech are not perfect) You need communication support for understanding other people? You need communication support when meeting random doctors or people or appointments. You need help at social events understanding friends and family. The CARE part of DLA is about looking after yourselves due to an impairment in your bodily function which is hearing loss of the profound level. (and speech impairment)
Most of the help profoundly deaf people get are informal help from family and friends - that should not be a reason not to get DLA.
FIGHT for it, and try get it back dated as much as possible!
Good luck. Been there, done it (I'm profoundly deaf)0 -
get advice from a deafened support unit, its ok saying oh you can sign or lip-read, you may do but if someone cant sign back your knackered, as for lip reading you will find strange accents or words uncommon to you very hard to work with, as for care, think this way - you wont hear that car honking at you to get out the way, your clue will be when it hits you0
