    UPDATE:

Just to let you know that i received my Santander visa DEBIT card yesterday and ive wasted no time in testing it to make sure that its working!lol
Have used an ATM to withdraw some cash, purchased items in shops with it and to be honest, as an undischarged BR to be able to use a bank card like this when other banks have shown me the door is really amazing...:T

For those who are having problems with opening an account with a debit card,Santander opened an Instant plus account for me.
Give it a go and you never know...:)

    All the best...

Hi yesican, I'm so pleased for you

Can you confirm there is a monthly charge for this account??

    Thank you
    If...x

    Hello Ifwisheswerehorses... :)

NO monthly charge at all....(not like Thinkbanking who charge an arm and a leg for their accounts)..:)

Can you please explain what makes it better than a CO-OP Cashminder account.
  • From the OP's first paragraph
"I went to a Santander branch yesterday in trying to open a bank account since Barclays and Coop were my creditors and coop have shown me the door while Barclays have given me a cash account but can only view my balance via ATM or weekly statements sent out to me."

No one's saying it's better than the cashminder account!

What is your point exactly, or do you have anything helpful to contribute ?

Toe-jam, I think Wildheart was just pointing out to Kepar that the OP had already said he couldn't get a Cashminder account and had already got a Barclays account but was unhappy with the lack of facilities.

Ive just opened an instant plus bank account with Santander too - Ive been discharged from bankruptcy for a little over a year now. They kind of glossed over this part - but there is a £10 a month charge for having this account (well, there is for me anyway!). Just wanted to ensure you were aware :) And yes, it comes with a VISA debit card that is normal in every way.

i think youve just been mis sold a reward bank account
