Twinklybev. There are plenty of things that you can do for free or next to nothing. Dinner parties with friends don't need to cost alot - get everyone to bring a dish and a bottle of wine. Spend a spa evening in treating yourself. I think about my 'blow outs' look at the clothes I never wear and think about all of the other stuff I could have done with my money. You're doing really well. Well done.

dont bother getting one you have managed so far without you can carry on.

Im in a similar situation to southern scouser albeit only £8k in debt but its still enough. And once you start its hard to get out of, you get one credit card you max it out then get another and another. You get a personal loan as you think you can use that to pay off your cc's and be left with one monthly payment. You pay of the cc's and then get the statement through saying you have x amount available, your a bit skint so you think you will just use it to buy a couple of things. then that turns into more things and then before you know it you have double the debt you had before the loan.

    Dont do it.
  • Hi

I've been on the Debt free road for 4 years in May....it's hard going and takes focus...sometimes I'm more focused than others (...I'm on a roll at the moment...) other times it's taken a bit of a back seat....but I've learned so much from this site that it never goes away.I've kept a daily spending diary (on a spreadsheet) for nearly 4 years, so it becomes away of life.....sometimes I imagine how rich I'm gonna feel when it's all over.......
.....anyway, have that bottle of wine I'm sure u deserve a treat....I'm sure u can get it cheaper than 4-5 quid though;)

    Good points here.

No it isn't worth getting credit to get by. We have ALL been there, and believe me ours wasn't the top car, expensive holiday, top gear , latest pair of trainers, it was purely getting by.

We have learnt our lesson and we are now paying for it. Thankfully my husband has recently changed jobs and we can now pay more towards our £8k debt.

Good luck to you on your shopping trips, it's hard but you'll get there.
