Laptop says 'hub disconnected' but it isn't ... HELP

Have a BThub 3 which has been working fine 'til yesterday morning.
Had been on a forum and tried to page forward and saw that I was no longer connected to the internet.
Everytime I try to connect I get the message that the hub is dis connected.
My sons laptop is connected [thus I am able to post this message]
but I can't get connected via the hub to the internet on my own laptop.
When I search for available networks, it will connect to someone elses BTFon, no problem,
so I don't know why it will not recognise that my hub is connected.
Anyone got any suggestions?
P.S. please note that I am NOT very techie so tech speak and abbreviations need to be explained:(
