Echoing on the line

I thought it was a problem with the cordless, but seemingly not as i've just been on the phone to o2 on the corded.

Funnily though, both calls that were echoing were to o2. Could it be o2's end?

Basically when i finish a sentence, i can hear my last couple words back.
We have broadband installed, but the mains socket has an inbuilt microfilter.

Do all the other phone sockets that are in use have filters?..Even if the are extensions connected to the tiltered faceplate, they still need filters fitted as they are connected BEFORE the filter in the faceplate.

I've read your reply a few times & sorry i still don't get it.

The echoing has only just started to happen (& seemingly only with o2), but there's been no change to the connections.

So this is how the connection is set up (& has been for years):

mains line comes in to the master socket
Master socket has an in-built microfilter
    Into the socket goes Sky
Into Sky goes a 2-split adapter
Into this 2-split adapter goes 1x corded & 1x cordless.

This has worked, without echoing, for years.

What you need to do is this,Disconnect the feed to the Sky & try it with a phone plugged into the phone socket on the faceplate. If that solves it,recconect the splitter without the sky then try it.If the echo is gone, then reconnect the Sky,if it comes back, then it's the line to the Sky box or the modem in the Sky box causing it.

If the echo is still there with the phone connected directly into the filtered faceplate, then unscrew the faceplate on the master socket, behind that the is a test socket.Connect a normal microfilter to the test socket with a corded phone & now try it.If the echo's gone, then the filtered faceplate is faulty. If not, then report the fault to BT.
