ESA and Work Backpay

Hi.
I claimed ESA for a few months last year after losing my job and being very ill (reason I lost my Job). I have successfully appealed to my employer for wrongful termination of employment, I have won and been given backpay for the months I was not working. I have tried to call ESA to see if I now have to pay back the money I received from them, however nobody gets back to me to tell me, does anyone know if you need to repay Contribution based ESA if you are then given backpay by your employer.
I would really appreciate the help..

I'm not sure about backpay but compensation payments do not have to be declared. I would have thought that your "backpay" was in fact compensation.

Thanks for that, I think its compensation, but didnt want to risk being a benefit cheat, it goes against the grain for me, but benefits helpline not very helpful..0 -
I *think* you do, but am not sure. I can remember when I was dealing with a tribunal case, that you had to give details of any benefits awarded. Why not try calling ACAS?0
