Hi,
This is my first post ! I am looking forward to any assistance that i get or can give.
I am entitled to the higher level of the disability living allowance and am considering whether to use the motability car scheme to lease a car for 3 years OR to buy a second hand car ( probably 1 to 2 years old ).
I would really appreciate any advice from anyone who has views (good or bad) on whether it is a better deal to use the motability scheme..
many thanks

Thru Motability you get 3 years peace of mind. All you pay for is fuel. You do however, give up the Mobility coponent of your DLA.
A friend of mine uses her DLA monthly payment to finance a car.
Her DLA payment is just over £350 a month, but she got the car finance for a 59 plate car for £250 a onth. So the extra money is used to pay for the insurance etc. But she is responsible for the maintence etc.0 -
With a second hand car eventually you own it. With a motability one you don't. With the purchased car you've all the bills to pay. With a motability one, the only thing you need to do is stick fuel in. Need tyres? Just pop into Kwik-Fit and they'll fit them to a mobility car at no cost to you.0

One main benefit is that your insurance is included so you will be exempt from any hikes in premiums over the years even if you make a claim.
With the motability car you have the following included for free
Insurance
Road Tax
Servicing
Breakdown cover
Replacement tyres
Free refill of/replacement tyre sealant if no spare tyre fitted
Basically all you have to pay for is fuel and have the responsibilty that the car is not abused etc.
You will have a brand new car to chose from a large list and can also add a named driver for free if they meet certain criteria.
Be aware that if you go through the motability scheme your NCB will be wiped off after 2 years if not used. Your NCB will not be used on the motability scheme and neither will you gain any NCB on the scheme.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems Well at least i learn something on the way0
