I could have been clearer. Your post said "usually" only one would do the work, with the other renouncing.demented_weasel wrote: »Sorry, but it can be so.
With agreement, one executor will reounce their appointment.
I know this because I was appointed as an executor in my late Sister's will, together with a friend of hers from University days.
I was also the residual beneficiary, after certain gifts had been made/paid.
As such, the other executor was happy to renounce.
If two executors can work together, thats great, but it depends on the terms of the will.
I don't know how often that happens, obviously it can and does happen, but I don't get the impression that it's "usually". Nor is it necessary to fully renounce, an executor can "reserve powers", which means that they leave the other(s) to do all the work but can still step in if they have any concerns.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I agree with you about "Power reserved".
I could have been clearer as well!0 -
And sometimes there are other practical reasons. For instance my sister and I have power reserved, but it doesn't mean we aren't involved, we all check all the paperwork and make decisions between us. But for us it meant it we didn't have to coordinate 3 people, one on radiotherapy, one disabled and one elderly, all living in different parts of the country to attend the Probate Office.Eat food.
