Responsibility of electric supply cables
Last night some ivy on the side of my house came down with the wind and as it came off it pulled the mains electrical supply cable to mine and my neighbour's house. As far as I am aware this hasn't affected the supply to any of the houses in the terrace but did uncover a very interesting use of electrical tape on some of the wires coming up from the ground which then go on the all of the houses in the terrace (I assume from the main supply cable?). I think it may be worthwhile getting someone out to check that the connections are still okay and maybe replace the electrical tape for a more weather proof solution.
My question is, who is responsible for this bit of the electricity supply at this point? It is on the outside of the house and before the meter (not sure if that makes a difference).
Thanks

If its before your meter then it shouldn't be your responsibility. It'll usually be your local DNO (can't remember what that stands for) but you may need to phone an energy company, not necessarily your own, to find out
hope that helps. 0 -
The powers of Google have told me that a DNO isn't the Danish Nurse Organisation like I first thought, it appears to be a Distribution Network Operator. I'll give them a ring and see if they can help out.
Cheers for your help0 -
