How about using people power or more to the point MSE power.
If every member here agreed to switch to the same company, it don't really matter what one at this time.
Yes, some may pay more in the short term but if enough people switched would it not make a more competitive situation and putting the customer in charge of who gets the business.
Maybe even MSE could get a better rate by deciding who get's the next years business.
Its about time rip off brittains started to fight back.

It would take a monumental effort to get the energy companies to change their tactics. You're probably talking hundreds of thousands if not millions of people switching and that makes this one a non-starter. How many members would MSE be able to drum up? A couple of hundred? maybe a few thousand if Lewis gets his butter face on Daybreak's lovely sofas in the morning.
In this respect, we're better off alone. We all have different energy usages and needs so its best to look around for the best deal for you. MSE can help with that

So if all the companies decided to make zero profit - i.e. sell gas and electricity to us at cost - how much do you estimate prices would drop?
If it is 'rip-off Britain' for gas and electricity costs, what action should most of western Europe take as they generally pay more than Britain?0
