How long should I wait?

I bought an item off eBay back on 25th January from a seller in New Jersey, USA. I paid immediately with Paypal.
Since then I've only received the 'You Won eBay Item' email and the Paypal receipt. I emailed him, through the 'Contact Seller' link on eBay, on 31st January just to confirm he'd received payment and to find out the order status. I've yet to get a reply back.
My concern is that one buyer, from Ireland, who bought an item on 28th Jan received his item on 7th Feb. Now surely postage to Ireland from the US should take a similar time as post from the US to the UK?
Should I wait any longer for this item? I'd be grateful for any advice on this situation as all my eBay transactions have gone smoothly in the past and this is my first hiccup.

In theroy, yes, in reality no. I get a lot of stuff sent from the US (I have family and friends there) and there have been several occasions when I have had two or more parcels sent by the same person, at exactly the same time. Sometimes they arrived together (or within a day or two of each other), but sometimes there has been a difference of a week or more.
Personally, I don't start getting worried about mail (sent via airmail) from the US until a couple weeks have passed.0 -
Yes things can take an age and customs could still be processing stuff from Xmas, personally I would give it a month (not ideal I know) but keep a wary eye on their feedback and sales to check nothing untoward there..
Try to email them direct you should have their email address on your wining confirmation email.0 -

He doesn't specify  - but I bought the item off him because a lot of international buyers (incl. UK) were saying how fast his shipping was, so I can only assume he sent their items by Air Mail.nightswimmer wrote:Personally, I don't start getting worried about mail (sent via airmail) from the US until a couple weeks have passed.
It's been 2 weeks already
.
Also, checking his feedback for UK buyers, one guy bought an item on 22nd Jan and received it 3rd Feb, another bought on 20th Jan received 31st Jan. So it seems like 11-12 days for those deliveries.
I'll wait for tomorrow's post before I contact him!0 -

Wait until Mondays post that would be even better.0 -

Hintza you were right - I received my item today :j !
What I find funny is that, although I bought the item on Jan 25th, it was only shipped on Feb 7th. So technically it only took 5 days, including the weekend, to get here. The hold up was him taking almost two weeks to post it  !0 -
Could be reflected in the feedback you leave...My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Glad you got it sorted!!
