Help!!! Money paid into closed natwest account

i am surprised the employer does not have a copy of which bank account details the actual payment was made to, and a hard copy of the transfer form!(clearly showing said details!)
Payments are returned within 3 working days.
OP when did you close your bank account and when did you tell your employer your new account details and how far away from payday was it?0 -
Why would there be a hard copy? If it's salary / wages it's virtually bound to be via BACS Direct Credit. In which case the employer has the target account data / copy of the file to BACS electronically filed.
Virtually guaranteed the money is in a Nat West suspense account. And in the queue awaiting a 'human' seeing if they can allocate it properly. It only bounces in 3 days if it's fully automatic (no account etc). In this case there is an account - which rebuffed the payment, 'cos its closed. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
BACS auto returns used to be returned under the old 3 working day BACS cycle.
Im not sure how that would work now due to new legistlation.
The OPs employer should have put a BACS trace on the payment ideally.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Thanks again folks, I have just received my statement and you would not believe it the money is sat in a natwest SUSPENSE account what a joke. So I went into my former branch and they gave me a number to call on Monday as the specific department which deals with closed accounts was closed on a Saturday.
All this time this incompetent bank had my money in a suspense account what a joke really and they repeatedly told me that they don't have suspense or holding accounts unbelievable really, might make a complaint and ask for compensation for the stress and suffering going in and out of the branch looking and sounding like I'm mad as they consistently said they, don't have suspense accounts the money was not paid in, my employer is lying bla bla bla. What total scum these people our, a tax payer owned bank, whose staff our just completely out of their depths its disgusting customer service, Sir Fred Goodwin you lucky muppet, that bank should not have been bailed out.0 -
You still havent explained how your salary got paid into a closed account in the first place :think:Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0

I love a happy MSE ending :-)
However like Jen I would be interested to hear how the issue arisen in the first place...Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Well, the money was paid into my closed account because I did not know natwest had closed my account for commercial reasons as they say unbelievable really, so when I did receive the letter informing me of the closure it was to late as my employer had already sent me the money to my account, before I could inform them of my new account details.
Has anyone had any experience, when your money is paid into a suspense account do the send you a cheaque or you have to go into a branch to collect your money??0 -

What I find unbelieveable is your assertion that anyone who works for NatWest could possibly have said the bit in bold.ILOVETHISSITE wrote: »What total scum these people our, a tax payer owned bank, whose staff our just completely out of their depths its disgusting customer service, Sir Fred Goodwin you lucky muppet, that bank should not have been bailed out.
Hmm, if this is the way you carried on before they closed your account I'm not at all surprised they don't want to do business with you any more.0 -

But then you would have lost all your money, and would have had the same problem (along with millions of other people) of having payments sent to closed accounts.
Natwest should have written to you giving you two months' notice that they were closing your account. They are required to do this in order to ensure that you have sufficient time to make other arrangements.0 -

Look everything I said is true, they actually told me that natwest don't have suspense accounts loool. I had to laugh at that as my brother works as a bank cashier at barclays and he said all banks have suspense accounts. The only time someone from natwest finally admitted they had suspense accounts it was a guy from the complaints department loool now that tells you something right of their incompetency.
Finally look you are surprised of what, that I'm speaking facts. Is natwest not owned by the tax payers hmmm. I'm happy they closed my account. Barclays are a very competent bank so are hsbc neither needed a bailout at the tax payer expense.0
