Air Passenger Duty-confusion over dates

I bought, paid for, and was issued with tickets for a flight to Cape Town on Virgin, through Expedia, on 15th December. Now Expedia have sent me an automated email stating that as I booked before 16th December I have to pay the extra tax. I checked on the Virgin website and it stated that tickets bought on or before 12th December have to pay the extra tax. Tickets bought on or after 13th December have already paid the extra tax. This, they state, applies to tickets bought directly from Virgin or through an agent. Any advice on who is correct please?

it would depend on when Expedia updated their site with the new details I guess....they may have been a couple of days behind.

Check your confirmation details how much APD you have actually paid. Economy s/be £40 or Business Class £80

If Expedia did not update their website straight away, is not that their fault? When I booked the tickets I remember thinking, having heard of the increase, that I would be paying a price for the tickets inclusive of the increase.
My confirmation of the booking does not mention any tax, just the total price of the ticket. Underneath the price it states that it includes all taxes etc.

Not in this case as their was so much confusion of how the government were going to implement their 'rip off' tax. Follow pennylanes advice - after all if you havn't paid it, you havn't paid it, it makes no difference as you always were going to have to pay it.

I take your point Sam Bee. But Expedia is asking me to pay it to Virgin at the airport, but Virgin, if their website is to be believed, is not going to ask me at the airport, because I booked after the 12th December. Now, I am totally confused!
