Hi having made a claim to Bank of Scotland they have made what they have termed a goodwill offer of £1500 as they say that they are innundated with applications and that they have made an agreement with FOS to make his payment in cases such as this. Should i accept or hold out for a better offer? Any advice would be appreciated.

What is "a case like this"?.
What was your ppi with interest that you paid?.You need to know this to see if it is fair.0 -
I don't know the figures. It was like a credit card type facility where i had a limit and could write out cheques. It wasn' for a fixed period and operated just like a credit card in that when the balance was ckleared i could use it again without prior authority. The letter reads that they havent attempted to calculate what is properly due and owing to me and i do not wish to accept their offer if i am entitled to more. Neither am i keen on taking the risk of getting less. I was just wondering if anyone else had been in a position like this?0

Good old fashioned budget account. The saviour of those that like good money management as you could transfer money over by standing order once a month and then have all your d/d, s/o etc for your bills come off it leaving you with what was left in your main current account as free to spend. The letter reads that they havent attempted to calculate what is properly due and owing to me and i do not wish to accept their offer if i am entitled to more. This is not uncommon. To speed up the offer, they are making an estimate. To find out the real amounts could take a long time. Goodwill payments are not guaranteed and there is the risk you could get less. But you could get more. No-one here can guide you as we dont know how you ran your account (cleared each month or constantly in debt). You are going to have to make a judgement call if you dont have statements to fall back on.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi there
That sounds like a BOS Preference Account, I had one of those also. Awful things.0 -
Hi, I also had a BOS preference account and I have just written off to find out some information about it. I paid a ridiculous amount of money to them and don't ever remember agreeing to any PPI so it will be interesting to see if they were charging me for it.
Did you decide whether to accept the offer? Were BOS helpful when you contacted them?0
