Hoping someone can help regarding a possible PPI claim

Whilst I have heard all of the news about PPI claims, I had not really thought about it until recently.
It turns out that I may be owed some money from Welcome Finance which I will be looking into shortly, but I also wondered where I might stand on any other financial products which I will have little documentation to support due to their age.
If I recall correctly, I took a loan out aged 18 (1998) with the Woolwich and if PPI was in play then, I'm pretty sure I would have just taken it regardless. The same could be said with a Top Man store card a few years later.
As this was a long time ago, where do I stand?
Any help would be of use.
Thanks

People have had success with loans from the 90s,me included, for the card you need the card number.
Ring Woolich (Barclays have taken these over) and ask if they can find you,do the same with Top man, give as many details as you can, address dob etc.
look here for reasons for mis sell

The Welcome loan if taken before 14th jan 2004 put the claim into Welcome,if after this date, ring the FSCS and ask for a claim form.
