Hi guys and girlies,
need some advice.
My car ford fiesta W reg I think its a 1.2, has just been taken by the kinda AA man to a garage as the sump has got pin size wholes in it, it has rusted right through and was leaking oil all over the place.
I do not know any thing about cars could someone tell me how much this will cost me as i have in the past been ripped off i know the exact cost is hard to assertain but a ball park would be great.
thanks for any help you can give me

A sump plug shouldnt cost more than £50 the rest would probably be labour (upto 3 hours).0

My S-reg 1.3 Fiesta had a steel sump that rusted right through, so I had it replaced a couple of years ago. I think a genuine replacement Ford sump cost about £80 then. It took a couple of hours labour because some of the fixing bolts were seized. And £15 worth of oil will be need to refill afterwards. So maybe roughly £200 in total at an independent garage.
I'm not sure, but I think the 1.25 Fiesta engine has an aluminium sump, so if yours has rusted, it might be a steel-sumped 1.3.0 -

Sump, not sump plug.

I once had a Ford Zephyr which suffered from the same problem. Believe it or not I cured it by getting underneath the engine with some fibreglass putty and a fine spatula and put it into the cracks. It held for the two years I had the car. I did it when the engine was hot so the putty hardened almost immediately."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
