Trying to copy cassette to PC using Audacity - why won't it work?

If my memory is right, don't you have to select "import RAW" in Audacity to record none digital audio?0

In Audacity;
Edit>Preferences
Select the Audio I/O tab
Use the drop-down labelled Recording Device to select the correct input. This will vary depending on your computer configuration, but as an example it might be Microphone/Line In.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.

I am working on it. It seems the problem probably lies in a combination of win7 64 bit and my pcs realtek sound card. I have a legacy XP based PC and I downloaded an earlier version of audacity (1.2.6 from memory - you have to use the new 1.3.14 with windows 7) and that seemed to work. Will report back after further tests.0

You don't. I found it slowed down my other media players a lot so tried "downgrading" to 1.2.6 and found it solved my problems yet still worked fine.
I gather that recording from the soundcard has been disabled in 1.3.x too? Not an issue with 1.2.6.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
