slate effect flooring

We are currently planning a kitchen make over and have found some flooring we love...it's slate and comes it different sizes and colour variations, so when it's laid it's not all one size tile.
However, I have been reading on old threads that slate is cold and a pain in kitchens as it is naturally uneven so the cabinets wont sit right. It also needs sealing etc.
I am wondering if anyone knows where I can get the same effect but in laminate or other material to make it more even?
The flooring I like is £16smq so looking around that price.
Thank in advance

The cabinets won't sit right if you tile under the cabinets. Why would you do that? Cabinets in first, and tile up to the plinth line.
If you want a black slate laminate that is moisture tolerant, Kwikstep do one.
This is the floorsonline website that shows it as I had trouble with the quickstep site.

Slate isn't always cold.
Yes, it can be uneven but that's because it's a natural product so anything perfectly flat gives itself away as fake straight away.
If you have decent slates you can select ones of similar depth & of more even nature for the areas where cabinets need to go.
As to sealing, the worst thing you can do is seal with any sort of varnishy type sealant. A few years down the road it will discolour. A treatment with linseed oil & washing with linseed oil based product are the best.0 -

Sorry the pic is so big, this is the sort of pattern/colour I like.
I understand it is uneven, that is fine but just worried about kitchen cabinets.
