I'll be moving in with my girlfriend soon and we're going to set up a joint account to handle the rent etc.
Are there any that come with free contents insurance (even if its an account that charges) or other benefits that might be useful in this circumstance.
thanks
David

ideally avoiding Halifax and RBS for personal reasons.0

and a quick bump back to the top as I really need the advice!

I use a Nationwide flex account for my shared house (3 adults, 2 named on account) and you get free European travel insurance when you pay in £750pm. Didn't choose it for the purpose, it was just an old account I had that could be used to save the hassle of opening a new one but it does the job fine.0

Thanks, so nothing specifically useful like contents insurance then?0

No more than travel or iphone insurance.
I was hoping maybe a specialized joint account for this situation.
Bob Hope then eh?0 -
For my flats account we use Halifax for the £5ver every month. Balance is never high enough to warrant putting it in an interest account (gets emptied for rent and bills obviously).0

I wouldn't say so. Virtually everyone travels and virtually everyone has a phone. These insurance markets are also in the more "impulse-buy" section, plus are generally cheap.
On the other hand, most people don't personally own a home - and those (still a large number I admit) that do will generally have contents insurance already, normally bundled with their actual home insurance.0
