Blocked sink/Bath

Both the bath and sink are blocked, they share a waste pipe and when I called the HA they said they will send someone out to fit a separate one for the sink next week as the original set up caused problems with water coming back up through the overflow when emptying the sink.

Anyway they are doing this next week!! but have refused to send anyone out to unblock the sink and bath!! We don't have a plunger to hand or any chemicals.

Obviously this needs to be done quickly as A) the bath and sink are full of water B) the whole family need to be able to wash (I was riding yesterday and riding today so I stink as I wasn't able to shower last night due to the blockage)

How do I unblock this without a plunger?

If need to get a plunger I will but would like to try without first.

A plunger will be about a pound at any hardware shop-or borrow one.
If you can't run to that expenditure then all you can do is remove the trap underneath and see if you can clear the blockage there-but it sounds like it's further down.

A plunger it is then, if it is further down will a plunger still help?

Yes, because it will still apply pressure through the trapped water to the blockage. Water is incompressable.

Clearing the blockage physically is always better than chemicals.

Nobody warned me how bad it would smell _pale_

Some stuff came up into the bath but it wasn't hair, looked like paper etc?

Anyway put soda stuff down after and now all appears to be running smoothly.
