A woman has many ways of winning her partner round. I generally go for the obvious. I tend to get what I want....

Can people check my timings as well.

    2pm - Ceremony
2.30pm - Photos. Mini cakes (3-4 each, profiterole sized) and 2 alcoholic drinks will be served
    3.30pm - 3 course Sit down meal
5.30pm - Cake cutting and speeches and eat cake
6pm - Talk while band sets up
    7.30pm - Band starts playing
9.30pm(ish) - Band finishes playing and ipod plays instead
    9.35pm (ish) - 2 Bacon rolls each
    Midnight - Wedding finishes

To me there is not enough time for the photos. What do people think? And will people get hungry?

And do you think people will get bored at any time?

    Idiophreak - I bake a mean cake...

Olokia - I doubt people will get hungry, there seems to be plenty of food. Are you having it all in the same place? Everything takes ages longer than you think - I would perhaps not expect people to sit down to eat until 4pm - they have some mini cakes to keep them going, thus allowing time for ceremony to over run and for you to get pictures in.

Allow minimum of 3 hours for meal - that would take you to 7pm.

In my opinion it is unlikely people will get bored whilst they wait for the night do - by then they should all be well oiled and chatting away nicely. I would have band 8.30-1030pm and then your dj or ipod. A lot of people may find they have had enough by 10.30 anyway and may slide off to bed! Serve your buffet at 9 (If you have evening guests arriving or later if it is just those who had your wedding breakfast).

That is how I would do it, but I am sure there are many who would do it differently!

Aside fo the photos thos timing look pretty good & I don't think people will get bored.

But back to the photos, you'll be very lucky to get them all done withing an hour & still have time to freshen up / catch a quiet moment with your OH before eating.

Maybe you can push back the times & do the speeches while the band set up. That would be a time where people would might otherwise get bored, and an hour & a half is a long time to wait for the evening entertainment.

You might spend exactly 1hr taking the photos, but that gives you no time for a quck chat with people just after the ceremony, trying to gether all the people needed for photos, then having a bit of time to freshen up before the meal.
To get around it you could say you're having 15-30mins of "mingling" before & after the phosts, that way you can put 1hr for pics on the time table to please her, but have some wiggle time.

We over-ran with our photos and it mean that the veggie meal was a little overcooked.

Good idea, I'll see if that works.

Thinking about it, say the photos take an hour. The first time I'd actually be able to talk to any of the guests would be 6pm.... Also, we won't have time for our two drinks or nibbles and we'll also be hungry because we won't have had any of the cakes.

Maybe just give her such a detailed breakdown. Have a rough idea of how you want things to go, but don't be too rigid. Have you asked your venue about your timings? If they have done weddings before they will have a good idea of how it should all work out. I personally think if you take more than an hour out for photo's it can be a bit boring for the guests, especially as, like you say you wont have time to talk to them etc. REalisticaally speaking if your ceremony is at 2 you wont start taking pictures until 3pm, after you have been congratulated etc. I would still schedule the meal for 4 at the earliest.

Good point - I specifically asked the venue to ensure that a plate of canapes were brought to me & OH to make sure we didn't miss out during the pics! :rotfl:

Mrs Davo - My sister got married at 4 and it was a huge rush. As the venue stopped at 11 we only had about an hour to dance as we didn't sit down to eat until about 6.30 and then the best mens speeches went on for an hour!!

The venue may not be keen to serve until later if they have a restaurant full of people, otherwise I can't see any problem with it. OR have an earlier wedding, sit down meal and have cheese and biscuits in the evening. My friends did that and it was really nice as we could just help our selves. The wedding cake was also cut and left for people to help themselves to.

The key things to remember are - it's your one chance, so don't rush it or try to cut costs if it means your day is shortened and EVERYTHING takes twice as long for a wedding!

    MEgan

I agree 100%. And your meal is VERY cheap... a little room in the budget for extra food to make your wedding last longer will be money well spent! :D

Not enough time after the ceremony for kissing, hugging and congratulating!
Photos will be very tight - an hour is not enough imho.
The meal will take longer than 2 hours.
Could you take longer for the after-ceremony bit, the photos and the meal, and have the band start later?
