Mpeg Converter to get stuff on MP3

I am technically useless and my son 9 year old son has bought himself a Samsung YP-R1 MP3 player and I think I need to convert files to MPEG format to get things onto the MP3. Any ideas how I do this or if I need something to do it for me??

Surely you need to convert them to mp3 format for an mp3 player?

What do you want to convert them from? What format are they in at the moment?

The YP-R1 will play the following formats, MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, AAC, FLAC, JPEG, Bitmap, PNG, GIF, SWF, WMV, H.264, DivX, XviD, MPEG4, so you shouldn't have to convert much.

I use any video converter. It's free and does convert from Youtube.
