    Hey everyone,

Had a phone call from coop today. Said they had received my letter about going on a dmp and being with cccs. However, they have said that until they receive a letter of authority, they cant disclose any info to them.

I told them that in my initial letter I included the line, please accept this as my authority for you to disclose any information to cccs, as was in the cccs template. They said this wasnt enough.

Coop said they want income/expenditure form which I told them cccs should be sending out shortly. They accepted this.

But they said they wont accept my initial letter of authority and they said there is a particular one cccs send and that cccs know about this.

Has anyone come across this before? Does anyone know what they are on about?

I'm not with CCCS but I am with Payplan and they had me sign a letter of authority type document that they sent on to my creditors. Probably the same with CCCS.

Yeah, that sounds similar to what they were on about.

I never had anything like this in the initial pack that I had to sign and send back though. Is this an additional document which they will send out to me?

I will try and ring cccs tomorrow and see what they say.

Just wanted to say thanks to HH for a top tip and to pass it on again. We're not starting our DMP until 1 May allowing us to make token payments for two months and build an emergency fund. HH advised that we should live by the budget we've set as you need stability for a DMP to work. Have done this and already realised we needed to change the budget. This was so easy to do, quick phone call to CCCS, and I'm sure it's saved us a whole load of hassee by doing it before the DMP starts. So huge thanks HH!

    Hiya,
We've not had this, no, I'm pretty certain that our CCCS template letter had that already included in it. Give CCCS a ring and ask if they've got something specific though c

    Hi everyone!

Haven't been on here for a long time. Been a hell of a year. I'm getting divorced so have had to set up a new DMP for my personal debts, which is fine.
However, as a result of the divorce process my family are aware of my debts and I am very lucky in that they have offered to settle my debts as a F/F settlement. Having asked CCCS the process, they have sent me a pack with a copy of the letter to send to my creditors.

My question is - what percentage of the debt do we offer? It's not as simple as saying I have X amount and you can have this share, more that we will try to find the money that they will accept FF at..... we just don't know what level to start at. The copy letter CCCS gave illustrated an offer of 25% of the debt to each creditor. Do you know if this is a starting point? Sounds very low (but not arguing if that's what they'll accept!!)

    TIA if anyone knows!

    Hey Biggles,

Sorry to hear about the divorce but it seems like every cloud has a silver lining in this case! The % that creditors settle for differs tremendously and all sorts of things come into play. For old debts that are now with a DCA, a lot of folk around here would say go in lower than 25%. For debts that are still with the original company, 25% might be a good starting point. How long have your accounts been in arrears? Who are they with?

BTW, there's a thread around here somewhere that's called something like 'Help with full and finals'. It's got a lot of useful info on it. I recently did two F&Fs for my smallest debts and I'm on a DMP with CCCS (I was a year in when I did the F&Fs), both creditors settled for just over 40% of what was owed.

Hello All (hope I'm in the right place)

I have just come from the CCCS Website after finally getting my head out of the oven and attempting to find a solution.

I have around 26k of unsecured debt across credit cards, store card and loans.

I currently make minimum payments on all cards and full payments on loans but things are beginning to get tight.

Sine the birth of my daughter in 2010 my husband has lost his job so I am the sole wage earner and we are about to lose our Tax Credits as my earnings (27k before tax) are just above the new limit propsed in the budget.

CCCS have advised a DMP which would get me debt free in around 4 years.

I am slighly optimistic but am acutely aware these days that if something seems to good to be true it probably is so would be grateful for some advice/shared experiences.

Do relationships with creditors turn sour when using the CCCS? Will I be hassled directly by them? I have a small loan with my current bank so am assuming I will have to move accounts before the DMP is set up?

Am I being naive to be feeling I may have found a positive solution?

    :o:(

I owed quite a large sum and found that most of my creditors were OK, quite a few reduced or stopped interest and 4 years later I'm 2 months or so away from being debt free - I've done this via CCCS.

Quick question...just started on a DMP with CCCS, and have sold a load of stuff on ebay. When all the sales and things have been processed and the money has cleared, I'm hoping to have £100 towards my debt relief. Do I stash it? Or can I overpay CCCS directly? I'm just aware that as my monthly payments are a measly £44 to them, it's going to take over 7 years to clear off what is to most around here a tiny debt (less than 4k). My pay packet should get slightly bigger over the next month or so as I'm climbing ladders at work (not literally), so I assume when I declare this to them the payments might go up a bit, but still, if I'm allowed to overpay and reduce my term....it's a no brainer to me!
