I am in the process of setting up my DMP with cccs  and am looking at almost 17 years to my DFD. :o

I have had 12 letters from creditors in the last 3 days and this is the first month I have not met my minimum payments, the phone has rung at least 15 times today and I can't face answering it.

    Mrs H x

You don't have to answer it x
Is this a mobile or a home phone? If home phone, you could just put it to ring twice and then make the machine get it. If mobile, perhaps consider getting a new number? (That's what I'd do, anyway)

    Hi mrs h!!

I'm still setting mine up, like you it's month 1 of missed payments and I'm getting 5-6 calls per day on home phone and mobile. Personally I'm ignoring them - I've got enough to sort out without having to explain myself. I just can't wait for the day when the payments start getting sent and I get left alone (I hope I'll one day get left alone!)

I'm not sleeping well at the moment and find its a massive roller coaster but the bottom line is - at least my debts are being dealt with. Just not in the way I originally planned!

You'll be fine mrs h just stay strong xx

    Thankyou

it's Sunday so no post to dread :o and so far so good on the phone front, DD 7 has taken to answering the phone in a rather loud "what do you want? it's breakfast/lunch/dinner/bath/bedtime ring at a sensible time" :rotfl:
Good luck mon1o we can be dmp buddies!

  • Morning and welcome to Mrs Hinge and Mon.

Shout up if you have any queries or needing support in general.

I hated the phone at first. If I had my time again I would have been giving them hassle at what they could do to support me. When you turn the tables you see they cannot wait to put the phone down on you! Don't forget you have the right if you choose to exercise it that you only deal with them in writting. If they don't play ball with that you can complain to the ombudsman.

  • Ok, so I have been getting a few phone calls but for one reason or another I have not been able to answer them.

Today phone rang and I had all my stuff (cccs ref no etc) ready.

Anyway, I have decided that when receiving these calls I am going to log name of company, person spoke to, date, time and result of call. This is purely so I can quote all this back to them in a letter to stop harassing me if it all gets too much.

    :)

Ha Ha your post made me laugh and reminded me of another post that I read through in the early days of my DMP, it was called having fun with Digitas and really cheered me up when our phone was ringing constantly - I've added the link (I think) below:)

  • morning :) hello to any new people!

When i was getting phone calls i would answer as one of my kids would have done for me anyway! I would take their name, company name and then tell them i was writing a letter as soon as i got off the phone as i was being harrassed. Lmao i have never 'seen' people change their tune so quickly! They'd be nice as pie then saying, so sorry we'll make a note you're on a dmp and not to call you again :D

    Hi & Welcome

I've been on my dmp for 6 months now. At the start I decided to inform all my creditors by phone that I was starting a dmp with payplan and to be honest I never had any phone calls of them after that. I know it can be scary at the thought of answering the phone to the creditors, but at least they will be aware of your plans if you spoke to them first. I can't believe how smoothly everything went for me after I spoke to my creditors.

Best of luck with your dmp
