Morning all,
No HH no Hotel Chocolate:D
Excellent idea for dh to open another account why didn't I think of that?
I've woke up this morning feeling calm, the weekends are the most stressful for me wondering how we are going to survive another week
I know it's the calm before the storm and the creditors realise what's going on but it's so nice to be able to see a way forward at last.
Planning a no spend weekend. Dh wants to do some gardening and we picked up some seeds for 10p a packet so some of those can go on the windowsill today.
Have a good day whatever your up to J x
I think we had one CC with a recent spend on diesel who stated they refused the DMP at first. We thought this would be a problem but they were one who stopped interest and all hassle within a few weeks.
Julie, the relief of not struggling to pay everything is incredible. I would pay a CC, then check the account daily to see when I could use that card again. Or transfer tiny bits of money between acccounts to make up the minimum payment. Every month we just about managed to make the minimum payment but still the debt went up
This way, after a couple of months, you will see the debt go down every single month and it's the best feeling ever.
Planting seeds sounds like a good one for today. I may do a biit of that myself.
Have a super weekend.

HH has helped me since the day I came here. She is my rock. my friend and my spreadsheet geek twin
I would not be in the position I am in today without her help :T
I am also in agreement with this about Hopelessly Hopeful her help is very valuable to many and she is never failing to make a helpful response but I think you Time to face the music are of equal value and you should too take the bow.0 -
Just to keep you all up to date. Just completed my first year on a dmp. At times it has been a scrape to get to the end of the month, but if i hadnt gone down this route i think we would have been heading for a disaster.
Our debts when starting Feb 2012 were £33514.59, and are now £28129. Sounds a bit better dosent it. Hopefully debt free by 2018 or sooner, if we can increase payments.
Only worrys are car, which is about knackered, boiler which is about 24 years old, and my windows are pretty shabby.
Has anyone read anything about the Green Deal, it seems you can get a new boiler, and the payments are collected via your electricity bill, it states what you save you pay towards the price of the new boiler? Any comments appreciated.LBM December 2011

Thanks for the kind words folks. Equally agree about the comments about Mrs TTFTM whose contribution is outstanding and always takes the time to do many individual replies as well as supporting me in many many ways! The point I would like to make is that everyone has something to offer whether that be humour, emotional support, empathy or practical advice. Always lovely to hear from people. I really don't know where I would have been had it not been for this place so thank you to everyone past, present and future contributors.

Hi
Well done on the year milestone
Windows unlikely DMP will allow unless unsafe. Boiler and car they likely will. Things will change during a DMP so do make the most of the flexibility of the informality and speak to your providor.
Good luck

I would never have started a DMp without the help and support of the good people on here including HH and TTFTM. I would still be worrying myself sick and sweating on keeping up minimum payments which didn't even pay interest off the amounts. I will keep the forum informed of mine and BH's progress adn look forward to debt amounts reducing for all. Thanks again. Will get there eventually.0 -
Nicki,
When I started 86 months ago I was £23,500 in debt.
Now with 4 months to go I owe approx £1150 (after this months pyt).
Sometimes time has flown by, sometimes it has dragged by, but I can see the finish line and so can you !.
Good luck !nicki342001 wrote: »Just to keep you all up to date. Just completed my first year on a dmp. At times it has been a scrape to get to the end of the month, but if i hadnt gone down this route i think we would have been heading for a disaster.

May I join the TTFTM and HH fan club too please? I think it is wonderful that people give their time and advice on this thread so freely and to complete strangers with no expectation of anything in return. I am sure there are many newbies who would not have got through those first few difficult months of a DMP without the help from our two star contributors. Three cheers for HH and TTFTM!DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421
