    Hi there

I have been lurking for the last couple of weeks.

After following this thread, I decided to bite the bullet and call StepChange last week and have just received my DMP paperwork through which I will complete over the weekend.

I have already sent letters to my creditors so am anxiously waiting to see what happens, and have an appointment with another bank to open a basic bank account tomorrow.

I have to say that, despite being nervous of the awaited reaction from my creditors, I feel like a huge weight has been lifted already. I guess the first step is the hardest eh?

It seems like there is a lot of support and help on this Forum, which I'm sure I'll need as the DMP starts.

Anyway nice to meet you all!

    Welcome to the thread!

How did you get on with the bank?

  • Hi again all.
Just a note my first payment has been accepted by most of creditors with interest stopped. My BH has an account with Halifax and we do not know if thet have accepted. We are going to wait for a statement. Is that normal to not know about Halifax and not knowing if payment terms accepted?

    Welcome

Most creditos dont bother to tell you. You just sorta work it out from what they charge on the statement.

  • Welcome to all the newbies I have not mentioned. Everyone looks be on the right track. It's fab to see so many people sharing stories, as alluded to it's just so comforting especially when you are at the start or hit a low and makes you not feel alone. Please do bear that in mind and stick around so others can benefit from it. These things only work if a critical mass of people contribute by sharing and not just take.

Morning everyone and welcome to all the newcomers

I've just had my review with SC and it went very well, so well that the outcome of going through our budget was a reduction in our monthly payment:eek: which I really didn't want to do. We juggled the figures around a bit and our payment now remains the same, shame really as I wanted to increase it a bit but the guy on the phone thought we might be stretching ourselves too much.

For anyone who is worried about having a review, let me reassure you that everything was fine and the folks at SC are so understanding and helpful.

I'm also quite pleased with myself at the moment as I came in £29 under budget in the January grocery challenge so I'm just off to sign up to February's. I also managed to beat my target for NSD's

    Onwards and upwards DFW's

    Take care

This post might embarass HH but I hope not. To all the newbies I suggest you read HHs posts she/he is very, very helpful, honest and upbeat. If you are down she/he will lift you, if you have a question she/he will answer clearly or point you in a direction for an answer. Fermi and eyeopener2 are also in this bracket. I have never in any threads they post found them anything but helpful and useful. :T:T:T

There, said my piece, So thanks.

Also agree that this is the time of year that people suddenly see the light regarding debts and start doing something about it. So any help posts from "old hands" are great.

Cheers HH, as usual words of wisdom! Its true even if things seem to be going well its nice to have that feeling of others sharing the journey. Its very calm with us at the moment but its really depressing to see all that money go from our accounts each month to pay off the debts.....

True - Halifax sold on our debt about 3 months agon and we haven't had a statement or contact since then... I will write to them asking what is going on, but strange that we pay each month and the only change we see to that debt is on the SC website.

In my experience, HBOS have sold the debt to their inhouse DCA called B(lair) O(liver) S(cott) or BOS !.

They will be the ones who will contact you (I think !).

Their contact details are here :

    Debt Collection Agency

Why should I get in contact?

    • Repaying your debt may prevent your credit rating from reducing.
      • You may currently have a default on your credit file. This means you have defaulted with a lender and may find it difficult to obtain future borrowing.
    • Repaying your debt may prevent legal action being taken against you.

Blair, Oliver & Scott collection agents are available to take your call

    Morning all,

    No HH no Hotel Chocolate:D
Excellent idea for dh to open another account why didn't I think of that?

I've woke up this morning feeling calm, the weekends are the most stressful for me wondering how we are going to survive another week
I know it's the calm before the storm and the creditors realise what's going on but it's so nice to be able to see a way forward at last.
Planning a no spend weekend. Dh wants to do some gardening and we picked up some seeds for 10p a packet so some of those can go on the windowsill today.
Have a good day whatever your up to J x
