Just catching up with every one, every thing is know sorted with step change, old bank accounts shut down and new one opened.not had any phone calls in the last two days must be the calm before the storm.
I have a new note book with all DD written down and dates they are due. so hopefully wont lose track.also opened a separate account to put any extra money in from surveys,e bay etc.step change have said it will take about 10 years to clear the debts but i want to try and clear it sooner if i can.
just a quick question if i wanted to pay a lump sum of my debts do i just ring step change and get them to up the Direct debt for that month.

Thought I would update you all on my ongoing saga with HSBC. They still say they haven't received anything from SC but SC have told me HSBC have a very large backlog of up to 3 months so are working through this. Something the call centres are oblivious to!
I wrote to them earlier this week and asked them to review the interest payments as they are adding £100 a month to the debt while I am paying £33 so the debt is rising. We have made 5 payments through SC to them so far. I told them I was making an official complaint and wanted them to register this.
I came home last night to 7 missed calls on my "emergency" mobile - all freephone numbers. I rang up and got through to the collections dep't again and had to go through the whole tale again..... Then I told them I had written in, the guy on the phone checked his screen and said that "yes its here and tells me everything you have just explained" God forbid these people drive you mad!!
He asked me to get SC to send the info again to them which I said they had 4/5 times so far! I asked him to check about the backlog but they don't seem to understand this part of the conversation for some reason. I was told that the debt is soon to be passed to their own debt collection agency so hopefully they might be able to move this forward....
This now is the only company to still apply interest. Also had a letter from Natwest ssaying they no longer want to give me a bank account which is fine as we haven't used it since July.
Well time to try and clear the snow from my path today but it looks like it froze last night - good excuse to burn some calories!
Happy weekend everyone.
BTW just seen the "differences of opinion" on the board - remember this is a support thread, everyone is entitled to their own views - thats life!! I have had loads of excellent info from this board which helped me through some very dark times, som einfo is good, some not for me, but overall the guys (and gals) on this thread have made my life a lot easier - and given me the odd chuckle now and then!Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35Now £27,470.20 :T57% of debts cleared:beer:0 -

It sounds like it could all start to be settling down, fingers crossed for phonecalls stopping completely.
If you have a lump sum available, you can let StepChange know and they can distribute it to your creditors. Some people advise to keep money like this and save it towards making full and final offers on smaller debts.
Writing everything down is a great idea, I do that but put it in a spreadsheet. A few of us do that and we call it the spreadsheet geek gangLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Have you complained to the FOS about HSBC? They often take a dim view of charges increasing your debt in the way yours are and may be able to help you and get some charges refunded.
If you haven't already, it's got to be worth a go. It will cost you nothing and you could have a lot to gain.

Thanks - I will do this, they have probably added around £500 to the debt since July while I will have paid around £150 so I think I may have a case.
I have just checked the SC DMP site and my Natwest accounts have now been changed to read "Natwest collections" so things have probably moved on without me knowing. I haven't heard anything really from them during the time with the DMP.Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35Now £27,470.20 :T57% of debts cleared:beer:0 -

Ooohh that sounds like encouraging progress. As the debt was increasing it may be worth requesting a refund. I managed this with three creditors and my debt was decreasing.
Good luck

Snowed in literally?
The road is like a skating rink, thick ice on top of yesterday's snow so I am trying to avoid going outside.
OH wants to go and play in the snow :snow_laugLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Snowed in to me is when I can't get the car out! I live in a hilly area so driving in snow is vitrually a no no.
Am happy
Don't forget to post a pic of the snowman. Make sure you stay MSE and make use of the carrot afterwards :rotfl:

He can go and play on his own or I have suggested he goes and collects our granddaughter and gets the sledge out in the park. It's actually snowing again and I am already dreading work tomorrow
Make use of the carrot? Do you mean for carrot and coriander soup? Or have you been reading those books again ..... :silenced:LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin
