  • Hi

Slow down and take things one step at a time

What made you think you had cleared it? The balance was showing as £0 on my DMP statement (CCCS/Stepchange) and Wonga hadn't contacted me to say differently - they harassed me when I owed them money and assumed :o that it would be the same f I hadn't fully cleared the balance.

When was your last statement from them? I don't think I have ever had one - the balance was based on the letter they sent me re my DMP :o

What's your DMP providers take on it? I haven't spoken't to them yet as I only just discovered it so thought I'd get some advice first.

I leave NOTHING to chance and measure everything myself now. When I spend I or pay it is documented. Please dont rely on anyone else to do the accounting for you or it will come back and bite you or catch you out. If you aren't in control now please change this folks and write for statements so you can draw a line under the past and start again today.

    Hope that helps.

    HHx

Thanks for the quick response - I have actually realised today that I really haven't had any statements from anyone in the past year - one reason I joined up with Noddle - so I could see what was on my credit file.

My DMP seems to have been running very smoothly with no letters or calls from anyone - probably one of the reasons I was reluctant to chase for statements - I feel liked I'd be poking a bees nest ;) after all if it ain't broke and all that. Probably not the most sensible thing to do. But it was so nice seeing two debts fully paid off.
  • Noddle takes ages to update, it took 4 months to show I'd closed an account. If I were you I'd take the bull by the horns and ring wonga and find out what the balance is. Hopefully you will have paid it off and can have a nice weekend knowing its done with!

  • How do you know Noddle have it correct? According to Noddle, I had a Next account and have never had one in my life, I don't even like Next clothes! I pointed this out to them and received a letter saying it was corrected. It was updated on my Noddle the next month.

I would have thought if you owed Wonga money, they wouldn't be sitting back quietly and saying nowt.

I am still having problems with HSBC. Got home to a final demand that suggested that if I don't clear the £5K balance in 14 days they would prosecute and take me to court.
I rang again and told them we are with SC and we had been paying since July. They said again that they hadn't had anything from SC. I asked her to look at her computer screen and they would see that details had been sent since July. SC have already told me that HSBC have a massive backlog of over 3 months of customer details they are wading through. But no matter how hard I tried to make the girl at HSBC understand this I couldn't get it through!!! She told me to take an offer letter to a branch and discuss it there, I told her that this was a CC and not a bank, also I don't have any local HSBC branch - honestly it was like talking to a brick wall!!
I contacted SC the following day and they said again that HSBC had a huge backlog and have told them not to send through any more customer details. She suggested telling them to contact their own internal business development dep't at HSBC. She also said not to worry as this would be a template computer genreated letter.

HSBC are the only company applying interest at a rate of £100 per month while our payments are £40.... So the balance is steadily growing.

As usual SC were there calm selves but HSBC - for the world's largest bank they are pretty cr*p.....

    The saga continues....
    Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35
    Now £27,470.20 :T
    57% of debts cleared:beer:

Sorry you are having hassle. Personally I wouldnt waste my time on telephone calls as you need to create a paper trail. Ironically court action would probably result in interest freeze and possibly refund.

My advice is put the issue in writting to HSBC. Ask them to log and respond as a formal complaint. Also remind them they are operating against OFT guidelines as your debt is growing and request they reconsider the interest and refund you. They have 8 weeks to respond and failing that you can report to the FOS.

Good luck. Most of us had success with the strategy

Do as HH says and forget the phone calls. You have to do everything in writing and if your getting threats like this, it is formal complaint time.

The people you speak to on the phone are stuffed without a computer screen, they have absolutely no option to think or make decisions for themselves. We breed automatons and this is the result.

Get writing, get complaining and you will see results.

Hi bertman having exactly same problem with HBOS loan they say havent received refer to SC then phone SC who say they have issues with HBOS Loans ( as well as Lloyds) all despite HBOS accepting first DMP payment and confirming the bank details that we have are correct. But the letters continue and say i am in arears and risk court actoin.

all as well Hfx cc havent stopped or reduced interest yet and my payment is less than the interest so its going up and up. I did a quick tally based on interest rates and even uping payments as other debts fall away by 2042 i would still owe £18k:mad: I currently owe £11K

Am hopefull things will improve as it cant be that things go on like this.

    Hello Everybody

I've decided to join the grocery challenge for 2013 and have set a target for January. This week I have spent a total of £37.93 which is fantastic for us:)

I did a stocktake and was surprised just how much food we have in the cupboards, then I made a list and stuck to it (I was tempted to stray but had a word with myself and carried on)

I've set a meal plan for the week and take sandwiches to work (which I do already) so with a bit of luck I should also have several NSD's as well.

I'm quite enjoying this challenge on the quiet and feel upbeat about coming in under our target. These early months of the year are the worst for my hubbies business as he gets no work at all so we really have to tighten our belts but in a strange way I don't feel gloomy about doing this challenge and normally I'm so depressed by the lack of money at this time of year it's unbearable:o

Anyway fellow DFW's I hope that you are all well and coping with what life is throwing at you and another month closer to all our DFD's:)

    Take care
    Ellie xx
