With the payday laon go through all your online accounts and change as your work phone no on as many that will let you.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0

Hi
You are welcome.
Changing your contact numbers in your online account is a great idea if they allow you to do so. I did that with quite a few of my creditors.
This is quite naughty but a long time ago when I first entered into my DMP one company wouldn't leave me alone, they kept calling every day even though I was paying them all I could afford, in the end I changed my contact number in my online account to their number0 -

I'm new to all this so I apologise if I'm posting this in completely the wrong place. Have got myself into such a mess with payday loans. Also had a loan with HSBC that had MASSIVE monthly repayments and almost made it to the end (only had two repayments left) but just fell at the final hurdle and couldn't do it anymore.
A just starting a DMP with StepChange but am terrified of all my payday loan lenders saying no to this.
Wondered if anyone has experience with any of these and a DMP?

I know this list of payday loans is insane and frankly moronic. Just lost the plot a bit last year and it just escalated out of all control.
My DMP looks like it will be done within a year as I can make payments of 1125 to them monthly. They anticipate 11 months.
I'm just really worried as so far Speed Credit are being awful. Haven't defaulted on most of the rest yet but as of the 21st i will and am terrified about them phoning work as I am a teacher and if the office finds out, everyone will find out.
Also, how likely is it they will send debt collectors to work.
Please help, even if I am on the wrong forum as I am having a serious meltdown and am not really seeing a way out
Hi raindancer and welcome :hello:
I would say you are defintely in the correct place as you will get non-judgemental advice and support from many people in the same position as you.
I have no experience of PDL companies but I know a few posters here do, so hopefully you will get more reponses soon. I think the changing phone number is a great idea and am still :rotfl:at Freshstart changing it to their own number. I can remember at the start of our DMP pretending to be our answering machine so that one really rang a bell with me
Have you protected your wages by changing bank account and/or cancelling all payments to these companies? Some banks seem to have real problems understanding that they can refuse payments so make sure you have all of this clear.
Well done on starting to get this sorted out and I hope your debt free journey is short and pain free. Please stick around and ask anything you need, no question is daft ... or if it is, I have probably asked it already!LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Hi and welcome
Fab to think this time next year it could all be over for you!
They can't have what you dont have, full stop. You are doing the right thing.
It is really good when people are specific about what is worrying them as then others can help best with options and support. So, re your worries re work........Please send recorded delivery a letter re DMP. Make sure (use the template clauses) it clearly states no contact at work by telephone. State you wish ALL correspondeance to be in writing. State that if they do not respect and abide by your request that you will, without fail report them to the FOS. Then if one contact tel them to not call you and to put in writing. You can even just put the phone down if you want. Personally if they had called me at home I'd say you'd been in touch to state no telephone communications and take the name of who is calling you. They will want to get off the phone quicker than quick! Write to them and complain, ask for a response within 2 weeks and report them to FOS.
Please do take the time to start at the beginning of the thread and read through. I can count on one hand the number of times in the three years I have been here that people have door step collectors. Yes they will threaten, letters will be full of may etc but they probably will not come, esp with the level you have and due to be DFD within a year.
Hope that helps.

This thread was a total lifeline to me when we first started out and I still often come here for help. I hope it's just that everyone is busy and it will get back to being lively here soon.
This will be our first Christmas without credit and it will feel so good that everything is paid for and we won't be dreading the bills in January. Everything except the fresh food is bought now and that's paid for on a supermarket gift card that we have been saving on all year. Am sure I will think of a few small things we need but there is nothing that can't come out of our budget.
Cooking everything from scratch, meal planning and bulk buying of bargain long life or no expiry goods are my top December tips. One of the spare bedrooms is still full of toilet rolls and soap powder from an irresistible bargain
I am really looking forward to going into 2013 which will bring us a year closer to our debt free date. I normally hate New Year but this one is something to look forward to, instead of CC bills to dread. New Year resolution is already made, more meal planning, am generally good but we have the occasional slip so a meal planner template is printed out and will live on the fridge and be taken out as the shopping list so no naughties can jump in the trolley!
Wise words..... and my twin snook over 20%. Congratulations!:T

This will be our 3rd Christmas without credit and I have been buying Christmas presents over the last few weeks and have a few still to buy but all have been budgeted for. I find it a triumph each time now that there are no huge credit card bills as part of the aftermath of Christmas.
I have been buying saving stamps all year for my groceries so all our food is covered as well.
We enjoy a quite Christmas with family and it's now something to look forward to rather than something to fear.
For all you folks out there who are just setting out on the DMP journey, stay strong and enjoy Christmas for what it is without all the commercialism that surrounds it.
Take care
