DMP & Mutual Support Thread - Part 8

Hey everyone
Stressing this morning! DH received a payment on Monday (a tax refund) which was supposed to be covering our rent, for some reason Lloyds have treated the BACs payment incorrectly and the amount that is showing paid is not showing as available, i.e. it's been treated like a cheque and I have no idea why. He is going to speak to them today but I don't know if it will do any good!
I still have no access to online accounting with Natwest (why does it take over a week to send out an activation code?!) so can't set up a standing order from there yet, so until the money has cleared we can't pay our rent. We have a great landlord but I don't want him to know we're having issues
Also I am waiting to hear from the student finance company with regards to what they are going to do with my grants as they may remove them due to an overpayment last year. They don't call back when they say they will and I keep being told different things. If I don't receive my grants I am going to be over £2000 down which could affect the setting up of my DMP. I'm also receiving letters from Rossendales regarding the overpayment as the SLC referred it to a debt collection agency even though I am still studying and they told me I didn't have to pay it back until after next July.
Really stressing today!
DD did you manage to sort out the payment with Lloyds?
It took NatWest ages to send my OH an activation code too, I think he had to phone them about 3 times then when we did get it, he thought it was for online only and told them he didn't know it when he phoned them and they cancelled it again and sent out a new one.
I don't much about student loans except my daughter has been having problems with an overpayment for last year too. Instead of splitting the deduction over the whole year, they took the lot from this term's money and she has really been struggling.

I think kids do understand, my graddaughter asked me did I want to sell some of her old toys to make money for new ones. She knows I have been selling on ebay so she wanted to join in
Sorry
It's a good lesson for your Granddaughter TTFM. Hopefully she won't get into our mess when she's older.:)0 -

HiWe went in to the bank and apparently it must have been a bank giro credit payment from HMRC which takes 5 days to clear! Can you believe it?! The bloke tried to get us to take out an overdraft and said that DH had a good rating with the bank and there could be other options available to us if we were struggling for money, i.e. extra credit! I told them we weren't interested in anything and would wait for the money to clear.

I think all the creditor is saying if they owe you money for any reason, e.g. interest refund, PPI claim etc, that they will use that money against your debt and not refund it to you.
Personally I would just file the letter
Hi, thanks for the answer. I have been thinking about claiming all those charges mentioned above for a while. When the letter arrived I thought about calling them and finding out if they were really going to do that (so I wouldn't have to start the claiming process)....perhaps pointless to do either...DMP started 2/2007

If they are charging you interest or if there is PPI on the account, I would give it a go to claim it back. The refund would go towards the debt and enable you to pay it off quicker.LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

That's why I wanted to do it so I could be DF quicker. I have to dig out all the paperwork from all of my creditors to see how much interest/charges...they have applied to my accounts (2 cc and a loan)since I have been on a dmp (at one point I had to reduce the repayments and they couldn't accept that so the interest restarted). So at least one creditor could be nice and refund what they owe me. I am tempted to call and ask them to do it.DMP started 2/2007

This is typical Lloyds TSB - we had (until this week) a Premier Account with them and quite a high income. Despite our level of debt they still gave me similar flannel on the phone this week.
I had been feeling quite guilty about my situation, but I'm starting to see that they've been like the drug dealer outside the school gates, happily feeding us as much credit as they can for profit.LBM 25/10/12

Weve been on our DMP for 6 months now and the companies are all starting to default us. Lloyds have eventually given us the interest back that theyve been charging on the overdrat (around £40 a month!) and sent the account to collections to default it. My Lloyds credit card have written to say they have finished the six month period they originally gave at lower interest rate, so I think thats heading the same way. MBNA wrote today about defaulting if we dont pay the underpayment for the last six months (around £900) by the end of November they will default.
So - not a great feeling, but I suppose the sooner they default us, the sooner it will be over.
Has anyone had any experience of Barclaycard defaulting? They are my only other creditor and I havent heard from them (yet)Sealed Pot no 20110 -

Most of my debts are with Lloyds TSB - how did you manage to get to this point with them? Was it by the action of CCCS or did you need to do plenty of work. Can you give me some tips?LBM 25/10/12

i started by asking them about the charges on my OD. CCCS advised me to ask them to remove the overdraft facility, as because I was effectively under the limit, they werent treating it as a problem. I spoke to collections who said I needed to go to a branch to remove the overdraft, but when I spoke to the branch, they said all they would do was talk to collections for you on the phone while you were in branch (?). I contacted FOS about the unfair interest, and a week later, Lloyds agreed to stop the interest and move the account to collections.
Ive also got a CC and loan with Lloyds. Ive had letters about both, saying that originally they would let me have reduced payments for six months, but now that the time is up, unless I pay up and clear the accounts, they will default them.
lloyds are really frustrating - you end up speaking to person after person in a call centre somewhere far away, and 99% of them dont understand anything you ask them if its not in the script they work from. They have definately been the worst creditor so farSealed Pot no 20110
