  • Well done for getting to the end, Lizzy! I"m currently posting at the end and still reading through the thread in case there's a wee gem that hasn't already been posted in the first 51 pages!

I got the CCCS package by email yesterday - was expecting it by post so was pleasantly surprised. Called them this morning as I had a few specific questions about the timing of the start given that we haven't got our new bank account up and running.

I also asked about a loan that I have that finishes in three months. I want to clear that one off as it will free up another £154 a month for the DMP, which on a rough calculation will reduce our DFD from 5 yrs 3mths to 4yrs 5mths. She said as long as we've cleared it before the start date, they're happy for us to do that, so I'm quite pleased.

We've stopped all DDs to credit cards this month so will use some of that cash for clearing that one loan account. Sadly it won't leave us much scope for building up an emergency fund as service and repairs on the car due this week are over £500

Spent my lunchtime today photocopying all the statements etc that I need to send off and just have one more that I forgot to take with us to work that I'll do Monday then it can all get sent back to them. Going to get my token payment cheques written this weekend and set up a spreadsheet with addresses so I can mail-merge the letters to go with them on Monday at work (lunchtimes have never been so productive :D )

Feeling REALLY positive after doing all this and we've even decided that, while previously we were all gloomy and thinking we couldn't manage a holiday, we're now planning an extended long weekend where we'll ride our scooters down the back roads from Scotland to Scarborough where my cousin lives, and stop overnight on the way down at a campsite. Spent £12.48 on a wee easy-up tent from Tescos today as a start on our holiday plan. With campsite fees at £6 a night, and scooters that do 100+ miles per gallon, and staying with my cousin for free once we're in Scarborough, I reckon we can get a nice wee 6-day holiday for £90 plus spending money (which of course we'll save for and use coupons and money-saving tips wherever we can). :T
  • Oh... also meant to say that when we got home tonight I phoned co-op to open one of their basic accounts - Cashbuilder - and it was easy as pie! Guy on the phone was really nice and helpful/friendly and I'm impressed that it's a UK call centre with 24/7 access! The fact that it's Co-op with their ethical practices is just the cherry on the icing on the cake.

Considering it's a 'basic' account, it's pretty packed with features: Debit Cards for both of us, online banking, DDs, Standing orders, ATMs. Basically the only things it doesn't have are overdraft (don't want one, thank you) and cheque book (token payment cheques this month will be the first cheques I've written in about 5 years so won't miss that either).

We are a wee happy pair of GBs tonight :rotfl:

i just need to ask something, when i did my soa for cccs i underestimated somethings so went back to them, they said they would send me another application pack out which i'm still waiting for should i get in touch and ask them to email again?

Also i am planning on sending my first payment on the 1st September in order to get all my direct debits transferred over to my new account which i opened today, (they have recommended that i get July's wages paid into my existing account and aim to have it all moved over to them by Augusts payday, my question is do i pay my loans and credit cards not associated with my bank in july/august or do i send them the letter and just make nominal payments and bank the extra as a contingency fund? thoughts please?
LBM 2 and the OH is onboard sept 12, DMP will start on the 1st November, DFD who cares as longs as it comes:)
1 year down 5 to go and now under 30k and 10% paid off

If you're planning on doing that, don't mention it to them, as I said that today and sort of got told off and reminded that I should pay as much as I can to my DMP and that there should be a budget heading for building up for emergencies. We had planned to wait the 2 months but after telling her that, I didn't really feel that we could stretch it out so we're just biting the bullet and sending everything and hoping that the car repairs are the last emergency cost for a few months!

I know that will come back to bite us on the a**!

    Hey all,

Those pdls are really horrid little blighters. I am so pleased I didn't really know about them, or ever think of accessing them, otherwise I dread to think how much more of a pickle we'd be in!

Grandbenders, nice to hear things are moving on and your holiday plans sound fab.

We started our DMP almost immediately and actually made 2 payments in our first month which was tough going. There have been hairy moments but we have got through .... so far.

I don't believe in making life difficult, we all need something to keep us going, but obviously am prepared to make sacrifices to get this debt paid as soon as possible. When you see it going down month after month and update your signature each month, or day in my case :o, it does make it all worth it :)

  • Morning Folks

Grandbenders, sounds like you are going great guns.

TTFTM I will drop you a PM. Have decided to stick as I am rather than self managing at the mo. Anymore interest may tip the balance though.

Is anyone else really feeling sorry for the banks just now? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Going to Lidl today or tomorrow.

Have also bought the much raved about 'take away secret' and also '50 shades of grey'. I wonder which one will proove most useful?

    Hi guys

After more advice please. One of my creditors is First Direct. I had O/D and CC with them. They accepted the repayment offer but wanted me to make it formal and sign a credit agreement where I would be chared about 9%. CCCS told me not to sign it so I didnt.

Have got a lovely letter off FD this morning saying FINAL DEMAND pay the full amount in 7 days OR fill in the I & E form with repayment proposals. They have already had all of this information from CCCS. How many times do they need it? If I dont send it back they say they will will pass on to metropolitan collections services, anyone dealt with them?

CCCS thay are scare tactics, dont repsond, its better for me if passed to debt collection as they have good relationships with the ones FD use, and my offer would be accepted and interest would be stopped.

Anyone else been in this situation? Am not sure whether to fill in the form just saying the same as the I & E form sent to them by CCCS, they want details of mortgage owed house value etc which they are NOT going to get, i think i have made a fair offer to them.

    What do you think?

    Thanks all

All standard tactics. It's a good sign if they pass you to DCA. You could either do nothing or just write and tell them they have all the details from CCCS and please go via them. I wouldn't waste my time doing another IE

    Good luck
