I have a question - apologies if this isn't the right place / for my forum ignorance 
but I can't seem to find the answer elsewhere,
If I post a thread, does it ever expire / get deleted? If so, is this something the poster would do or one of the admin team? Just curious ...

Threads never expire, they may occasionally get locked / deleted if they go off topic or offensive.
As you can see here they go back to 20040
