Any1 recommend any cheap NYC hotels. Going for a week in April. Also is it worth a day trip down to Atlantic City? Thanks.

Atlantic City isn't somewhere I've been so can't comment on that, but for cheap NYC hotels you really need to know what would suit your requirements.
Probably the best option these days for a budget traveller is staying in Long Island City in Queens and taking the ten minute subway ride into midtown Manhattan. The Country Suites and Inn and The Verve in that location tend to get good reviews.
In Manhattan accommodation can be expensive. Many budget options involve shared bathrooms, which isn't to everyone's liking.
Really depends how much you want to spend per night on a room?0 -

Depends what you mean by cheap, but you can stay in NYC on a budget if you know what to look for. For example $125 per room per night isn't unusual for something like the Country Inn and Suites, which includes breakfast and is an 8 minute subway ride to mid-town Manhattan.
You can even get budget rooms in Manhattan, but more often than not that involves shared bathrooms.0 -

Depends on your definition of cheap, at an exchange rate of $1.50 that would be £83 per night for a room, not per person. That's a reasonable rate for any major city in my opinion.
It's certainly a good rate for NYC.0 -
