Ok give me your hand I'll walk you through it.
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/competency-guidance.pdf
Bottom of Page 4.
Print it out and point it out if they ask a specific bullet point question, from what I gather all questions should aim at broad section of the competencies only.
That document is guidance on writing competencies for an application. In the interview (this is only MY interpretation - make up your own mind) they can ask you a question based on any part of that competency. ?? I could be wrong but there is no harm in over preparing I suppose....0 -
Thought this might be helpful to those who are going for interview.
The interviewers will be looking for specific examples when answering the question asked. The questions will each be broadly based around each competency. For example, on Leading, you might be asked a question about giving direction or showing integrity. You wont get asked "give me an example where you met the Leading competency!
If your answer falls under Leading, and is a good example, it will hit on most of the descriptors under that competency. Its unlikely you would hit every single one, and the list is not exhaustive, it just helps to mark things.
People will really struggle in the interview if they a) dont actually answer the question asked and b) dont provide a specific example in their answer.
I cant really give away any more than that, if you have understood the competency framework and have a few examples per competency that would cover most of the points you cant go far wrong.0 -

Yeah nothing wrong with over preparing, but personally I can't relate to most of the senior/level 2 bullet points as someone with lack of experience. Also kind of impossible to relate to each and everyone of them.
Personally looking around I see most people's questions based on the broad descriptors some people have claimed being asked a specific bulletpoint question about the competency not sure if they being honest or if the interviewers were being a little nasty.0 -
Got my interview feeback the weekend. 5,5,6,5,4
All lower than my written competencies so not overly happy.
Any idea if they'll be good enough.
And do they base the final decision just on your interview score?
Thanks
Good luck to those who haven't had there's yet.0 -

camelot1971, as example if I was to say I was working in a specific retail place, and then outlined different customers and different situations I face in my work environment to cover up more about the competency would this still count as specific example/s?
Or do I need to give ONE situation dealing with ONE customer because I would find it extremely hard to cover the whole competency with dealing with one customer to show all the qualities needed...0
