when a swearword is not a swearword

hope this is the right forum, if not please move :)

would it be possible to fine tune the censorship system that picks up swear words, as sometimes it's a bit over the top?

just now:
Even the pin !!!!! skin testing

I've seen other words containing the letters a. s. s and 'a.r....., that are not swearword, and also some innocent URLs, so just giving some feedback about it

    Ah yes.

Imagine if you were a poster from S!!!!horpe, who didn't want to !!!!!foot around the issue of skin !!!!! tests.

That would lead to a lot of exclamation marks!
  • And why gh ouls? They're a type of ghost, for goodness' sake! Hardly a profanity!

This must be a gem, stumbled upon this quote within a post while looking for Oldstyle recipes:

Unfortunately it's always going to be one of those things. I used to run gaming servers and being international we tried to censor a lot of the words and keep them well run so that kids would have a safer place to have a game. So we tried a few languages in there, then we found out that the lady gamers couldn't talk about their fav soap opera EmMERDAle. Was several other ones that cropped up again and again, but that one did make me laugh. Joys of having a computer censored forum/server :D

Ah, that explains why you can talk about Arsenal and Arsene Wenger (should you wish to - and I don't :rotfl:)

I wonder how the filter would cope with the joke based on the (supposed) technical names for a rooster, a hen and a donkey/mule?
