My mother buried my sister's hamster in those exact circumstances. It was a very cold house and I remember saying 'Fing's not moving' whilst she was sorting out my brothers' stuff for school.

She never did like anything rodent related, and even as a 3-4 year old, I did think she seemed very keen to get it in the ground.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Sadly, about 10-15 years ago, my sisters hamster, Henry, (vicious little swine), escaped while we were cleaning his cage in the garden (it was summer).

For reasons, unbeknownst to me, my sister had elected to place him in a cardboard box for the time being. Not the wisest move, but I thought I'd solved it when I suggested we rest hardback books on all sides so he couldn't escape.

Not a chance, little sod chewed through the cardboard, knocked the book over (very impressed by this) and was gone. We've got quite a large garden, which backs onto the woods (there was no fence at the time), so by the time he'd started running we knew he'd be lost forever.

However, our old neighbour was kind enough to bring the skin/fur back by it's tail when his cats were done devouring it (the sadistic !!!!!!). First and last time his cats got a free meal off of us!!

ours hibernated a few weeks back. i shoved her in my ample bosom to warm her up! 10 mins later she was running around like nothing happened! We have a heat mat under her cage now at 1 end for the very chilly nights. I was so worried as I love the little monster that she is!

... and really, hibernating and dead really were incredibly difficult to tell apart.

I've had work colleagues like that. :rotfl:
  • my 15 week old syrian is very lively and has not hibernated yet, might of helped that she has tonnes of toilet paper to wrap her self in her house with
  • Jenhug ive had many small and furries, kittens and puppies down mine. Ive always said thats why god never gave me a big pair as I needed the room for the animals (I used to work in a vets before anyone thinks ive an animal fettish) usually if you put the cage never a radiator after a few hours of non direct heat they will wake up

  • When I was 6 my mum complained that we had mice in our house. I was really excited, I had these tiny pencils and a tiny pad from some kids set of something. I put them under my bed so the mice could draw pictures.
