My comment was because amusedbystander said
but it does not always happen, it should by often does not. It is all down to what I call "corporate incompetence" in the energy industry.every time an engineer completes a meter reading or any thing like that they send a message back to therelevent supplier with readings and things like thst so bg will have a exact read from the meter change0 -
What are the first two numbers on the meter serial number (this is the long combination of numbers and letters on your meter)
eg: K95ES64805
The first two numbers are 95. This represents the year that the meter was made - in this case 1995.
Are the first two numbers on your meter serial number 10?
If not, I would suggest that the new meter was in fact a secondhand one and so the reading would not have been 00000 when it was fitted!0
