Buying tickets for US sport event from Seatwave (or similar)

I am going to NYC in a couple of months and I'm interested in getting tickets for Ice Hockey (and possibly some other events). From what I can tell, the only way to buy tickets is via third-party sellers such as Seatwave - however I am a little unsure as to how it will work in regards to getting the tickets to me.

Has anybody had any experience of purchase tickets for US events or got any advice?

Thanks

A couple of years ago I bought two tickets to Washington Capitals v Montreal Canadians via a ticket agency. (I can't remember which one it was though) They sent the tickets well before we were leaving to my home address. I paid about $150 for two tickets. They had a booking fee and a credit charge fee included. Tickets were probably only worth $120. You might be better off waiting until you get to New York and buying them over there from a ticket agency. Do not buy them from the touts outside the arena. A lot of them are forged or well over-priced.

ETA I think it was Stub Hub. Link here:

Thanks, I might investigate trying to get tickets while in NYC.

Most US sporting arena's have a 'Will Call' window and the selling agents such as StubHub will arrange to have your tickets waiting for you there.
I have done this a few times and never had any problems.

It is always worth checking the venue itself for tickets as they seldom sell-out these days and are sometimes cheaper options than the selling agents.
