Scared of the future and in pain is there any help out there?

I won't go into too much detail as i will be here all night so i will try and keep it short!
I am a mum to 3 and i have always looked after the children/house and DH has gone out to work full time. We are in a council house and have always paid the rent/bills and paid off a lot of debt over the years so we were heading in the right direction with a bit more to go. I have been suffering occasionally over the last few years with pain from a condition which has come in bouts lasting about a week at a time. It is so bad i cannot move without help to get to the toilet ect. We usually get through it with DH taking holiday from work.
Over the last few months my condition has been awfull and i have spent all of december xmas/new year in pain and still now. Currently waiting for a scan this week and i hope this will lead to a proper diagnosis! I won't go into great lengths about my problems but things are becoming worse and instead of me being out of action for a week or so which was at least manageable i have been unable to look after the children and myself for more than a month now despite trying. I can't even stand long enough to make a meal :(
I am scared for the future- that my DH will loose his job because of me, he'll have to look after me and the kids with no money coming in. I hope i am over thinking things and that i will get fixed up eventually when the nhs finally work out whats wrong with me instead of dishing out pain killers.
I want to help him out as i'm fed up of feeling useless and find out about any support he could get if i don't get any better.
My main source of info is the net and if he lost his job it would have to go along with everything else.

At the least - it seems you could qualify for DLA, if not now, shortly.
If you have been suffering for 3 months, unable to make a meal (this is a specific test) - and are likely to still suffer from this for 6 months, you qualify for low-rate care.

If you need help most of the day, middle rate care, and if walking hurts - perhaps high rate mobility.
He may - if he earns under 100/week - after deductions - be entitled to carers allowance.
