Pram shopping!

Options
Hi,

We're after some advice please about prams / pushchairs /travel systems for our first baby. We have the following criteria:

1. we have a gravel drive and would like to push the pram across it without getting stuck!!
2. light weight and not too bulky / wide
3. suitable to take 'off roading' when walking the dog
4. Be compatible with the Maxi-Cosi car seat
5. Have a storage compartment under it

if anyone has any recommendations it would be highly appreciated!
thank u in advance!

What about the Quinny Speedi, it's ideal for off roading, would travel over gravel quite fine that I can imagine, and fits a Maxi Cosi Car Seat. It does have storage too.

The Quinny Speedi in a nutshell:
Highly manoeuvrable front wheel that can swivel 360 degrees and can be locked
    Folds up easily and conveniently
    Shopping basket adjustable in size
    Aluminium light weight frame
    Adjustable footrest/backrest
Ideal travel system in combination with Maxi-Cosi car seat and Quinny Dreami carrycot (adapters included)
    Approved confirming EN 1888, BS7409 and NF S 54-001
    Pushchair seat: until 15 kg

    Great minds Ravenlady :D

I'd suggest revisiting the rather ambitious desire for one pram to do absolutely everything. Off road you need clearance, so underneath storage options are limited, you also need fat wheels (also to cope with the gravel) and stability, all of which rather increase the width. As width goes up so does weight. I suspect you might need to compromise somewhere. Have you visited any good pram shops? I'd suggest going into John Lewis, Mothercare etc and canvassing a range of opinions from those who know what is currently available and then looking up reviews of their suggestions on't'interweb

Crucial to your choice is to be honest about the off roading. Are you talking about footpaths or trogging over the moors.

Thanks for your replies, we have been in pram shops, but wanted some unbiased views!
We quite like the Bugaboo Cameleon and the Quinny Buzz, as the Bugaboo is very light and it can be put into an 'off-road' mode (big wheels first!) but the pram/seat is quite low down, and we prefer the look of the Quinny Buzz but just concerned that its front wheels with the all terrain version will still get stuck on the gravel.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these prams?

    Thanks!

Well if you like the Quinny Buzz, the Quinny Speedi is like the off road version of it? I don't think most shops have it in as standard though.

I like the Bugaboo Cameleon but I wouldn't recommend it for off roading, even with the wheels at the front, it really is more of an "urban" pram.

What about the Quinny Zapp Xtra?

I have the Quinny Buzz, and got some inserts for the tyres to stop punctures!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • We have the mychoice 3 from Mothercare - can't fault it.

One important piece of advice. When folded make sure that it will fit in the boot of your car. The sales woman at Toys-R-Us told me they had customers coming back when they found it will not fit in the boot.

The box may fit into the car but when assembled the pram/buggy may not.
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D
