Huge problem with paypal !

Options
I recently sold a blu-ray player on ebay (I'm not an ebay shop) and now I'm having big problems with the buyer and with paypal.
The item sold, the buyer paid straight away and I posted the item straight away (got proof of postage).
The buyer contacts me to tell me that they had not received the item and asked for proof of postage which I sent to them straight away. They then contacted me again saying they hadn't had the proof of postage so I sent it again and they got it. They told me that after reading the proof of postage the postcode on it wasn't theirs (they were right but I'd sent them the wrong photo), so they now thought it had gone to the wrong address and they wanted a full refund. They then opened a case against me. I sent them the correct photo but it was too late because paypal would now be the ones to decide the outcome of this. (By now paypal have temporarily taken the amount from my paypal until a decision is made).
I sent paypal a note explaining the fiasco and also submitted my proof of postage to paypal as evidence. The decision came back today that I have to pay her the refund even though I posted it and showed them proof of postage ! I've read that paypal show favoritism to buyers but this is insane ! They've told me I can appeal this (which I will) but I sold it because I needed the money badly and I don't have the money now (all this happened before Christmas). Any advice would be appreciated ! Thanks

Your proof of postage is irrelevent to your transaction with the buyer. You are responsible for goods getting to their destination so rightfully, now the buyer hasn't received them you have been forced to issue a refund.

Your complain is not with paypal, it is with Royalmail. Use your proof of postage to recover your costs from RM.

How much was the bluray sold for? What date did you send it?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

You made a huge mistake, proof of postage is not proof of delivery, the claim against you could not fail. To beat the system you need to show proof of delivery, the recipeints signature, and upload it to the claim.
The only thing you can do now is use the proof of postage and make a claim with the post office for up to £48 (I think thats still the limit).
