Host dog boarder

The lady who boards mine at her home charges £15 a day for the first dog, with a discount of £5 per extra dog (she can have upto 5 boarders at a time). She isn't through an agency though, and as I said, only does sighthounds.
Dogs can, and do get dumped with sitters, especially with shelters being so full - pay with a cancelled cheque (or make sure it bounces) and dissapear. Please excuse my bad spelling and missing letters-I post here using either my iPhone or rathr rubbishy netbook, neither of whch have excellent keyboards! Sorry!0 -
Really interesting posts here. I'm always stumped with what to do if we go away. I have a cat visitor take care of the cats and he's brilliant, can't fault him one bit.
The dogs always pose a problem. I've looked housesitting but the prices were daft as they charge per pet per night! I've also looked at home boarding but lots of the people/companies I found seemed to have their own dogs and I'm not convinced mine would cope with that. I can't remember exactly what the prices were as it was about 2/3 years ago when I last looked, but it was over £20 per day per dog so way more than £70 per week your agency would give you. They must be taking an enormous cut. As a dog free home boarder though, assuming the owners were happy when they vetted you and you built up a good reputation, I think you could be very busy, as many were booked up well in advance when I enquired. BTW mine ended up going miles away to the Canine Country Club in Devon... worked out £35 per day at the time and they had a proper bedroom (with proper bed) and hours out in the paddock everyday. They even sent me a postcard and came home with a holiday photo album. The things we do for our pets.
