Hi,
We bought a house earlier this year, semi dating approx 1910. This month and last month we've had a log burner installed in the 2 downstairs rooms, which was emotinal the week before christmas but has transformed the house, it's now toasty warm!
Anyway, still a few jobs on the ground floor to do but want to make sure it's all done in the right order, with some of the bigger jobs maybe having to wait until later in the year depending on costs

So, the main things are:
- move light switches and add sockets to both living rooms
- remove "big" light and replace with wall lights front room
- replace front door front room
- remove internal wall between kitchen and dining room
- remove radiators from kitchen and dining room
- relocate thermostat
- refloor kitchen/diner
- skim/replaster throughout

Knock your walls out.
Put in the wiring for your electrics and remove the rads unless there's work to be done on the wall you're removing, in which case you'll definitely need to do those jobs first.
Replace the door.
Skim the house.
Second fix on electrics -putting in your fancy light fittings, new socket covers, thermostat etc. You could decorate before you do that - saves painting around new boxes.
Replace floor (won't get paint splashed either if it goes on after the main decorating - if you're replacing skirting, you might have to make the decision to floor first.)
There's a bit of flexibility but everything I've put before plastering should definitely be before, and everything after, after.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
