What gives me a buzz? Knowing that I can feed myself well for £15 a week or less because I have to and not choose to. Making a list of things that I need, not just want, and then finding them second-hand for a tenth of the price if new. Knowing that I need never buy another stitch of clothing bar socks and undies if I stay the same weight and look after them properly. Buying whoopsies of stuff I'd never considered as part of my normal budget and then looking for fab ways to cook or incorporate them: I'd never have bought that kilo of plums for 30 pence on Sunday otherwise, I'd have just left them behind before. Reading hints and tips on here about saving money or spending a lot less by doing things I'd never heard of or could have imagined by myself. All of these and more make me feel really empowered and not merely sorely disadvantaged.0

A big buzz, buying my shopping mainly from ys, bogof or other special offers, and looking at the trolleys at the people in front and behind me in the chechout queue. Which leads me to my second buzz, wondering how big their overdrafts/credit card bills are, while I have no cc's, owe nobody and have amassed a small sum in savings. Another buzz when I can pay for a holiday or Christmas without taking out a loan. Another buzz, driving my 10 y/o car quite happily and not having to have the latest model just because it's there. I buzz when I go to the college and am charged £20 for full head hilights and a restyle, rather than the £70 the local salon wants
A big buzz today, have discovered a local charity outlet which is much cheaper than the big name cs's, bought a set of 6 ramekins (to portion my sugar free jellies, among other things), a dainty little crystal vase and a bone china one (for gifts) - total £2

Seeing a meal created for pennies or only a couple of pounds from scratch and being enjoyed.
That's mine. Shopping for veg from the garden instead of Morrisons, and making a big pile of grub for next to nowt.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I get a buzz from seeing how much people get a buzz from MSE.
I've HUGE respect for the creativity of some of the meals described on this site. I don't cook meals - my husband does all the cooking - and, tbh, we're not short of money. BUT being a part of this forum has made me start looking out for really good bargains in food and household products like toiletries and cleaners. We do treat ourselves, but why should I let various companies take advantage of us by buying something because of its brand name, when a similar unbranded product is just as good (sometimes better), but costs considerably less? Like others, I like finding RTC food, and making a really good meal of it, or seeing how many really good meals we can get out of a chicken or a joint of meat. Well, the OH does!

People enjoying anything I've cooked, and the knowledge I've done the best job I can with a piece of food.
Serious soulbalm for me.

Having just found out that we are to become grandparents later this year I am getting a buzz from obtaining al the things the baby will need from e bay. Only buying items that are new or only used once or twice thus still in excellent condition. We are currently running at 10-20% of original cost of items.
I love getting a bargain with the yellow stickers too and refuse to pay full price for food always buy when on offer and stock up.Why pay full price when you may get it YS0
