Hi
Me and my husband spoke to a company in a shopping centre about ppi, we have had a few loans over the last few years(which are all paid off in full now). Someone came out to our house and spoke to us about the process of reclaiming, im not too happy about going through another company but my husband reckons it would save us the hassle. Anyway the guy took some details from us and we never heard anything until yesterday we received a letter from RBS, stating the amount of PPI that we had paid, it comes to just over £3000.
I didnt expect it to be as much as that, so im very reluctant to go through another company to do it when theyre going to take such a huge chunk of the money!
So the first question i have is, can we just not bother contacting this reclaims company, and just do it ourselves?
The letter from RBS states that if we feel the PPI was missold then we should write to them, providing as much information we can and also why we think it was missold.
I understand there is template letters somewhere, can i just send one of those to them?
Sorry if these sound like silly questions, im just not sure of the process at all!

Hi
Its not clear from your post whether you actually signed a contract with the claims company ?
Is the letter from RBS a result of the claims company starting their work or simply a letter that the bank has sent to all customers who bought PPI in a particular time period?
If you have furnished the claims company with details of all your loans and signed something then you will have to pay them i'm afraid and they will chase you for their "commission".
Depending on the company their cut could be anything from 15-30%.
It is quick and easy to claim yourself,so if you haven't signed anything with this claims company, then do it yourself !0
