Why do people persist in quoting first tier tariffs?

Why also do they not realise that immersion heaters have thermostats!

I can't think any of NPowers' tariffs have a 38p/kWh Tier1 charge, one has a daily standing charge of 38p

Do you keep the heater on 24/7 ? does the heater have a thermostat to turn it on/off. You probably dont need the heater on when your asleep for instance. If it doesnt have a thermostat you could use a timer plug to turn it on/off at certain times. What about the room your trying to heat... how big is it? have you got single glazed windows.... big gaps under the doors etc etc.... it might be worth spending a few quid on sorting the room out...rather than just trying to heat a room thats never going to stay warm!
